Outgoing, exuberant and boisterous mascots are part of what makes sports fun, especially for the casual fan. But there’s definitely a line that cannot be crossed.
The Jackson State Tiger mascot went across that line after his team scored a touchdown in the third quarter against Bethune-Cookman on Sunday.
A couple of players were tangled up on the edge of the end zone following a long-touchdown reception for Jackson State when the Tigers mascot decided to join the tussle. That resulted in a 15-yard penalty.
Here’s the play and what followed afterward:
Coach Hendrick is 100% getting this mascot fired after the game. There is no doubt in my mind. pic.twitter.com/wM0E0mLfpi

Let’s hope that mascot doesn’t get fired, but it’s safe to say that Tiger has learned his lesson not to get involved with players until well after the play is complete.
