Rutgers and Iowa have a few things in common.

One, both schools are in the Big Ten. Obvious, I know. But two, both schools are 1-0 going into Week 2 of the college football season. Last year, Rutgers went 1-11 overall and if it can pull an upset over the No. 20 Hawkeyes — who are likely to be ranked again in the upcoming AP top 25 poll — the Scarlet Knights would already double their win total from a year ago.

Ahead of the first B1G game of the season, Rutgers coach Chris Ash spoke with the media during his weekly press conference.

Ash went to Iowa State at one point in time and he was on the Cyclones coaching staff from 2000-06. For him to say any kind words about Iowa at least says something about Ash.

He knows talent when he sees it and he isn’t afraid to compliment a rival.
