The drama surrounding the Dallas Cowboys and Pro Bowl running back Ezekiel Elliott may be ending very, very soon.

On Wednesday morning, ESPN reported that Elliott and the Cowboys have finally reached a contract agreement that will keep the star running back in Dallas for at least six more seasons. According to the report, the deal will be a six-year, $90 million deal with $50 million guaranteed.

With two years left on his current contract, the new deal will keep the running back in a Cowboys uniform through the 2026 season.

The deal comes just a few days before the NFL regular season gets underway. That means Elliott should be suited up for Sunday’s season opener between the Cowboys and the New York Giants.

It’s not clear when the deal will officially be announced by the Cowboys organization. The reported plan is for Elliott to return to practice on Wednesday, which is just five days before Game 1.

In three seasons in the NFL, Elliott has rushed for 4,048 yards with 28 touchdowns. He’s also racked up 1,199 receiving yards and caught six touchdown passes.
