Michigan State and Arizona State are set to square off in a rematch from 2018, and the Sundevils are not shying away from the challenge at hand.

Last year, it was Arizona State that mounted a fourth-quarter comeback against the Spartans. In the end, the Sundevils won a defensive slugfest 16-13 in the desert.

Now, Michigan State is welcoming Arizona State to East Lansing with revenge in mind. The Spartans’ defense has continued to look strong to begin the year with the offense finally coming alive in Week 2.

For Arizona State, it has been a different case to start the 2019 season. The Sundevils are 2-0, but they are coming off a lackluster showing in a 19-7 win over FCS Sacramento State.

Arizona State OC Rob Likens knows the Sundevils are not playing great coming off of Week 2. He is also keenly aware that the Spartans are one of the best defenses in the country. But he is not running from the challenge at hand.

Matt Wenzel with MLive.com shared Likens’ comments:

“I love this challenge; this is gonna be awesome,” Likens said. “We get to go to Michigan State, nobody thinks we’re any good on offense and they’re the No. 1 rushing defense in the country and we can’t run the football. It doesn’t get any better than that – you know what I mean. Let’s go.”

We will just have to wait and see if Likens still loves the challenge come Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4 pm EST on FOX.
