Ryan Day praises Ohio State defense for performance against Cincinnati

Tremendous public praise seems to be a rare thing from coaches. That’s especially true after facing non-conference opponents and teams that are expected to be beaten.

But if that’s a coaching rule, Ohio State’s Ryan Day bent it at least a little during his latest radio appearance on 97.1 The Fan. During that appearance, Day was very complimentary of how well the Buckeyes defense played in Week 2 against Cincinnati.

Of course, one can probably afford to be complimentary after a shutout. Sure, Justin Fields had another tremendous day, but the Ohio State defense held Cincinnati to zero points and 273 total yards. The Buckeyes also allowed the Bearcats to only convert 3 of 14 third-down opportunities and forced two turnovers.

Ohio State will play its first Big Ten game of the season when it visits Indiana at 12 p.m. ET this Saturday.
