Buckeyes get boost in College Football Playoff poll

For the first time this season, the Buckeyes rose in the College Football Playoff poll.
Following the blowout win in Ann Arbor, Ohio State inched closer to a top-four spot and came in at No. 6. OSU still found itself behind the likes of Iowa and Michigan State, which earned the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively.
Those two teams will play in the B1G Championship on Saturday while the Buckeyes will hope for some craziness in other conference championships.
Ohio State would potentially sneak into the top four if North Carolina upset Clemson in the ACC Championship or if Florida somehow knocked off Alabama in the SEC Championship.
But that might not even be enough.
If the committee chose to reward a conference champion, two-loss Stanford could still pass Ohio State with a win against USC in the Pac-12 Championship. And there’s still the possibility that a one-loss UNC team would pass OSU for the final spot with a win against No. 1 Clemson, 12 straight victories, and a conference title to boot.
In other words, it’ll take plenty of help for OSU to repeat as a final-four team. But there’s still a chance.
