Former high school teammate on play of freshman RB Zach Charbonnet: He’s doing what he’s always done

This comes as a surprise to no one, but it sounds like freshman running back Zach Charbonnet has been a “beast” for quite some time.
Just in case you were unaware, Charbonnet arrived in Ann Arbor as the No. 4 RB nationally on the 247 Sports Composite list for the 2018 class. And believe it or not, a player does not earn that ranking from being your average high school player.

Even more impressive, Charbonnet has lived up to that ranking to start his Michigan career. He has rushed for 190 yards and 3 TDs through his first two games, serving as the workhorse with 33 carries in the win over Army. He’s quickly become one of the most important pieces for the Wolverines on the offensive side of the ball.
When it comes to Charbonnet’s first two games as a college player, one ex-teammate is not surprised to see him dominating. According to Ryan Zuke with MLive.com, high school teammate Kaylin Moore has seen plenty of these type of performances from Charbonnet before:
“He’s a beast,” said Moore, a junior receiver/cornerback at Oaks Christian High in southern California. “He’s just doing what he did at Oaks, but on a bigger platform. I think he stunned a lot of coaches and colleges with how good he really is.”
Hopefully, Charbonnet surprises even more people this season. He is definitely a complete back, serving as a workhorse in the running game but also vital in Michigan’s passing attack. Charbonnet and the Wolverines are idle this week before a highly anticipated showdown with Wisconsin in Week 4.
