It didn’t take long for Paul Finebaum to change his tune on Saturday afternoon.

In the morning, during his weekly spot on SportsCenter, Finebaum predicted a Michigan win over Wisconsin in Madison, saying he “believed” in Jim Harbaugh. That was a pretty rare statement from the SEC Network show host, who has been known for his harsh criticism of the Michigan head coach.

But after Michigan was demolished by Wisconsin, falling 35-14 at Camp Randall Stadium, Finebaum had no trouble hurling his criticism at Harbaugh and the Wolverines.

“Congratulations to Jim Harbaugh and Michigan,” Finebaum said on Twitter. “Things are looking up. The 21-point loss today to Wisconsin was a slight improvement over the 23-point loss to Ohio State in the last Big Ten outing. Might be time to extend Harbaugh’s contract.”

Finebaum isn’t going to be the only critic of Harbaugh after that showing. Fans, alumni, media and former players are all scratching their heads after that performance in Madison.

It wasn’t just the fact that Michigan lost the game — it was a 3.5-point underdog — but how awful it looked in the loss. Saturday’s game was shades of the Wolverines’ abysmal showing last season against Ohio State.

So, yeah, Finebaum isn’t alone this week. Harbaugh is going to catch plenty of heat from everyone.
