Notre Dame just blatantly faked an injury to set its defense

Aside from Michigan-Wisconsin in Big Ten country, the game of the week — from maybe a more national perspective — is No. 7 Notre Dame traveling down to Athens to take on No. 3 Georgia.

The game has been tight throughout, but midway through the third quarter, the game was tied at 10. Georgia was driving down the field and had the Fighting Irish defense on its heels.

Notre Dame knew this, and were getting rushed to the line of scrimmage thanks to Georgia’s offense speeding up the tempo.

The Irish decided to do this to slow things down a bit:

Here’s another angle on it, as Notre Dame was trying to substitute guys on and off the field:

This is cheap, and honestly, a form of cheating. Georgia ended up settling for a field goal on the drive, making it 13-10.

However, Notre Dame isn’t the only one to do this. We saw this in the Pittsburgh-UCF game, too, right before the game ended.

With all the reviewing that is allowed to happen in college football, I’m surprised this isn’t open for review. If officials saw a teammate pulling his guy down to the ground in order to force a timeout, there should be a punishment for it.

As for now, it just is what it is.
