The past few years have seen an unprecedented number of quarterback transfers in college football.

In this day and age of transfer portals and immediate eligibility waivers, the perception of transferring has drastically changed. In the past, transferring was traditionally the last resort or came about as a way to play closer to home.

While that is still the case for some players, others have hit the portal for the perceived greener grass of a new destination. Some have also left as graduate transfers to play elsewhere.

Unfortunately, transferring to a new destination does not mean success is certain. Justin Fields and Jalen Hurts have put up elite numbers with their new schools, but that is not always the case.

ESPN’s Bill Connelly recently ranked the work of the 23 transfer QBs playing in 2019, and Hurts and Fields checked in at No. 1 and No. 2 for strong play at Oklahoma and Ohio State, respectively. Here’s how the rest of the transfer QBs in the B1G stack up:

  • No. 2 – Justin Fields, Ohio State. Previous school: Georgia
  • No. 6 – Josh Jackson, Maryland. Previous school: Virginia Tech
  • No. 14 – Brandon Peters, Illinois. Previous school: Michigan
  • No. 20 – McLane Carter, Rutgers. Previous school: Texas Tech
  • No. 23 – Hunter Johnson, Northwestern. Previous school: Clemson
