It’s been 12 years since the College GameDay bus last rolled through Lincoln, but that will change this Saturday, as Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Lee Corso and the rest of the pregame crew go live from Nebraska’s campus for a primetime showdown between No. 5 Ohio State and the Huskers.

News first broke after Nebraska’s 42-38 win over Illinois in Champaign, a game that lifted the Huskers to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in B1G play. Ohio State enters the game with a perfect 4-0 record and is also 1-0 in conference, posting a big win over Indiana in Week 3.

Herbstreit recently talked about the upcoming trip to Lincoln on his ESPN podcast. The college football analyst sounds pretty fired up about the visit.

“[Nebraska] maybe have not executed to the level that you expect them to execute yet, but a night game, College GameDay is going to Lincoln, ABC primetime coming to Lincoln,” Herbstreit said. “They haven’t had things like this in awhile. Scott Frost is bringing a new excitement back, a new energy back to the way it used to be almost every year in Lincoln. I think, just based on that, there’s anticipation and excitement. I expect them to play at a very, very different level. Will it be good enough? We’ll see. I think they’ll go out and play at a different level.”

Ohio State and Nebraska have met seven times in the past, with the Buckeyes owning a 6-1 advantage in the all-time series. The Huskers’ lone win in the series came in 2011.

The Buckeyes have won recent games in 2012, 2016, 2017 and 2018, with last year’s contest being really the only close game of the bunch. Last year Ohio State escaped with a 36-31 home win over Nebraska in Columbus.

This matchup has been circled on a the calendars of a lot of college football fans since the beginning of the season. We’ll see if it lives up to the hype on Saturday night.
