Dwayne Haskins on report that Washington Redskins’ coaching staff not backing him: ‘Fake news’

Dwayne Haskins was absurdly effective at Ohio State a season ago.
So effective that he broke multiple Big Ten records. With that season, he got selected No. 15 overall in the previous NFL Draft to the Washington Redskins.

Haskins hasn’t gotten any real playing time in the regular season yet.
Could part of that be because the coaching staff doesn’t believe in him? Did they want to draft him in the first place? Or, is the coaching staff just wanting to win now and think that Case Keenum is the best man for the job because he is a veteran that knows the NFL game more?

It should be known that Redskins head coach Jay Gruden has his contract expiring at the end of the 2020 season. Also, Washington hasn’t been good in a while. Gruden may want to be winning now more than ever. His contract is expiring soon.
So, when Washington spent a first round pick on Haskins, was that the best thing for Gruden? Maybe not.
In the end, Haskins is understanding of what he can learn by sitting for a while as a rookie:
“It’s easy to look at the rookie class and be like, ‘Rookies are playing, why am I not playing?’ I want to be like Tom Brady and Drew Brees and that’s something that doesn’t happen overnight,” Haskins said. “Tom didn’t play at first; Aaron Rodgers didn’t play at first.”
