Making national waves after holding a sign with his Venmo username on it during ESPN’s “College GameDay” prior to the Iowa Hawkeyes/Iowa State Cyclones game on September 14, Carson King received support from two of the B1G’s most well-known coaches on Monday.

Initially hoping to just replenish his stock of Busch Light, King decided to do something generous once the money started pouring in.

With the help of his parents, King, an Iowa State fan, made the decision to donate most of the money to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

Hosting the “Carson King Countdown” benefit concert on Monday, Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz and Nebraska basketball coach Fred Hoiberg, who was the head coach at Iowa State from 2010-15, voiced their support for King’s efforts on Twitter:

Dallas Clark, who starred at tight end for the Hawkeyes from 2000-02 before an 11-year NFL career, was in attendance for the benefit concert:

As Keith Murphy pointed out in the above Tweet, total donations had eclipsed $2.7M at the time of Clark’s contribution. King will release the total donation amount on Tuesday evening.

Ranked No. 14 in the country, the Hawkeyes (4-0) travel to Ann Arbor to face the No. 19 Michigan Wolverines (3-1) on Saturday (12:00PM ET, FOX).

King’s Cyclones (2-2) host the 3-1 TCU Horned Frogs (12:00PM ET, ESPN2).
