Danny Kanell releases Top 5 based on specific criteria

Ranking the top five teams can be pretty subjective right now. Yes, we’re five weeks into the season, but some teams have had easy roads while others have had challenging tests.

While college football coaches and the Associated Press think they know who the top five teams in the country are right now, Danny Kanell has some other thoughts.

Kanell always provides a unique perspective into the world of college football and typically has some different thoughts about how the rankings should work. And right now, he has an interesting top five — based completely on strength of schedule and wins.

Here’s Kanell’s top five:

1. Auburn
2. LSU
3. Wisconsin
4. Georgia
5. Clemson

The unique perspective here is that Ohio State and Alabama don’t have a good enough win yet to crack the top five — at least right now. The Buckeyes will likely get that chance this Saturday, hosting No. 25 Michigan State.
