In a chaotic weekend of college football, the B1G was the conference that didn’t succumb to one of those nasty upsets. The teams at the top did exactly what they were supposed to do on Saturday.

Wisconsin pummeled Michigan State, Penn State held off Iowa and Michigan used a late rally to beat Illinois. Ohio State had the week off, but has looked like the best team in the country through the first six games.

Essentially, the B1G’s College Football Playoff hopes are alive and well as we enter the second half of the college football season.

Following an interesting week in the sports, FOX Sports’ play-by-play broadcaster Tim Brando had some thoughts on the weekend, primarily saying that the SEC’s “brand” is enough to keep Georgia in the hunt despite a terrible loss to South Carolina. He calls it the “era of pure playoff privilege.”

Mixed into the conversation, though, Brando did give the B1G some credit, saying that the top of the conference compares to the elite in the SEC. He’s also been impressed with the conference’s depth.

“[Wisconsin, Ohio State and Penn State] sends a strong message that the Big Ten has not only great depth, but power at the top,” Brando said. “Power that’s very similar to that of the SEC.”

Below are Brando’s full comments, as posted by FOX College Football on Twitter:
