James Franklin explains why Penn State doesn’t actually wear white during its White Out

Penn State’s annual White Out game is nearly legendary, but the unaware may not know that the Nittany Lions do not actually wear white for the game.
When most teams do a black out, white out, or any other “out,” the team traditionally wears a jersey of that color. Ohio State recently wore all-black uniforms during its blackout game against Michigan State.
However, Penn State head coach James Franklin indicated that the Nittany Lions do not wear white during their White Out game. He cited “contrast” and an NCAA rule that would require Penn State to get permission from the visiting team to wear white uniforms.

For Franklin, he said he wouldn’t do that for someone else:
Franklin on not wearing white to the White Out: "Part of the White Out is the contrast, and we can't wear white at home. There's NCAA rules — we'd have to get permission from the other team, and I would never do that for someone else."

For now, fans will just have to be content with the Nittany Lions wearing their blue uniform tops for their White Out game against Michigan.
