Crossing the line: Ronnie Bell’s father fires off message to fans sending hate mail to his son

Ronnie Bell’s father has found himself leaping to his defense after a few Michigan fans crossed a boundary and sent his son some hate mail following the Wolverines’ 28-21 loss to Penn State.
Saturday night, with Michigan trailing Penn State by a touchdown in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, Shea Patterson threw a fourth down pass to Bell in the end zone in an attempt to tie the game at 28-28 late. But Bell, who was fighting off a defender, couldn’t make the grab and the Wolverines weren’t able to get the offense back on the field.
After the game, Bell was ridiculed by several Michigan fans on Twitter and through email for the drop. Those fans crossed a serious line following the contest, and Bell’s father, Aaron, felt the need to step in and say something in response.
There was one email in particular that Aaron Bell took exception to. Below is the email (with the name hidden for privacy purposes), as well as Aaron Bell’s response:
These kind of reactions and insults are never acceptable. And it’s good that Bell’s father stepped in and something, too.
Ronnie Bell finished the five catches for 82 yards for the Wolverines. He’s been Michigan’s leading receiver this season, hauling in 25 receptions for 443 yards.
