How teams would be ranked using BCS formula

It’s fun to combine past and present. What better way to do that in college football than by bringing back the old BCS formula to see how teams would be ranked through the first eight weeks of the year.
Thanks to some work done by BCSKnowHow.com, we have an accurate understanding of what the nation’s top 16 teams would look like based on the old BCS formula that was defunct after the 2013 season.
Right now, Ohio State and LSU would be playing for a national title based on the old system. LSU is sitting in the No. 1 spot with Ohio State at No. 2. Alabama and Clemson are at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
Here’s a look at the full 16 teams that were ranked, with the B1G having four teams in those spots:

- Alabama
- Clemson
- Oklahoma
- Penn State
- Florida
- Auburn
- Notre Dame
- Oregon
- Georgia
- Baylor
- Utah
- Wisconsin
- SMU
- Minnesota
We know this system is no longer in use, but it’s still fun to see where teams would fall based on the old formula. LSU and Ohio State have looked like the two best teams in the country, so it can’t be too far off.
It’ll be interesting to see how close this system is to picking the top four teams for the College Football Playoff at the end of the year.
