Special teams is one-third of the game of football, and James Franklin’s staff at Penn State used an interesting measure to ensure their kicking game can handle raucous environments.

Formed in 1899, the Penn State University Marching Blue Band received the Sudler Trophy in 2005, described by a Los Angeles Times columnist as “the Heisman Trophy of the collegiate band world.”

Featuring sophomore Jake Pinegar, the Nittany Lions have made seven of nine field-goal attempts this season. Pinegar has connected on five of six, while redshirt sophomore Jordan Stout has hit on two of three.
