Facing the Indiana Hoosiers (5-2) in a B1G crossover game at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Saturday, there was plenty of mystery surrounding the quarterback position for the Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-3).

Sophomore Adrian Martinez dressed and took snaps in warmups, but classmate Noah Vedral drew the start. Completing 8-9 passes for 139 and adding 21 yards and two scores on the ground, Vedral left the game in the second quarter with a leg injury.

Sprung into action, freshman Luke McCaffrey replaced Vedral and threw a 24-yard touchdown pass, the first of his young career, to redshirt senior Kanawai Noa.

Nebraska on BTN provided video of the score:

A four-star prospect out of Valor Christian High School in Littleton, Colorado, McCaffrey is the younger brother of former Stanford and current Carolina Panthers running back Christian, and Michigan Wolverines redshirt sophomore quarterback Dylan McCaffrey.

Entering Saturday’s action, the younger McCaffrey had yet to attempt a pass in game action; he did pick up three yards on the ground in Nebraska’s victory over Northwestern on October 5.

Now in the third quarter, Indiana at Nebraska is airing on BTN.
