Minnesota running back Rodney Smith turned in another stellar performance against Maryland on Saturday, recording 103 rushing yards and a touchdown on his first 17 carries.

With that total, Smith moved into first place on Minnesota’s all-time all-purpose yardage list with 5,110 yards.

Over his six seasons, Smith has accumulated 4,360 yards from scrimmage, including more than 3,850 rushing yards. Smith has also recorded 760 punt return yards during his college career.

While the sixth-year senior might not receive a lot more touches with a lopsided score Saturday against Maryland, Minnesota still has four more regular season games remaining for Smith to pad his stats. If Minnesota avoids two losses in the Big Ten, the Golden Gophers will have two additional games with the B1G championship and bowl game too.

Before Saturday, Smith had 786 rushing yards, 58 receiving yards, and 97 kickoff return yards in seven games. He’s averaging 5.7 yards per carry with six touchdowns this season.

Minnesota leads Maryland, 45-3, with nine minutes left in the fourth quarter on Saturday.
