Big Ten issues statement regarding random drug tests

On Thursday, news broke that Michigan State senior linebacker Joe Bachie failed a random drug test and is being ruled ineligible for the remainder of the season.

The news came as a surprise, as this doesn’t happen often. According to Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press, his report stated that Bachie tested positive for a supplement considered to be a performance-enhancing substance that is banned by the Big Ten.

The exact supplement/substance is not known.

A few hours after the Bachie news broke, the Big Ten released a statement:

Again, this doesn’t happen often. That is likely the reason the B1G released a statement regarding its random tests.

Bachie, barring a successful appeal, will be done playing college football due to no eligibility remaining.
