Scott Frost after tough loss to Purdue: ‘I came back to Nebraska to get this fixed’

Scott Frost’s second year at Nebraska has not gone well and it got a bit worse Saturday.
After entering the season with increased expectations, the Cornhuskers have not looked the part of an improved team after finishing 4-8 last season. Purdue entered Saturday’s game with a slew of injuries, including missing their starting quarterback and their best playmaker in Rondale Moore.
The Boilermakers even lost QB Jack Plummer to an injury late in the game, but it still wasn’t enough for Nebraska. Freshman David Bell scored the game-winner with just over a minute to go as Frost and the Cornhuskers fell to 4-5 on the season.
After the game, Frost maintained that he’s been in a lot of close games since he came to Nebraska. He’s still focused on getting the team moving in the right direction and is confident the staff will get this thing fixed.
Here’s what Frost had to say after the loss:
- “I’ve already been in a lot of games at Nebraska where if we make one more play we win…These are games we should win.”
- “We have to keep doing the things that we know how to do to get them better.”
- “There’s at least three games this year where if we do anything better we win.”
- “I came back to Nebraska to get this fixed, and I’m gonna do it. Regardless of what has to happen…we’re gonna get it there. I won’t let anything else happen.”
- “I thought the psyche of the team was good. We came out and played well for the most part, we just wasted too many opportunities.”
- “Sometimes guys need a butt chewin’, sometimes they need an arm around them and it’s up to us coaches to do what they need to get going.”
