Loss to Purdue adds to Nebraska’s miserable mark against the spread this season

Bettors, beware: you will likely want to avoid placing any bets on Nebraska for a while.

Another rough season for the Cornhuskers hit another low with Saturday’s 31-27 loss on the road to Purdue. It marked a third straight loss for Scott Frost and company and the fourth loss in the past five games. The only win in that stretch was a 13-10 nail-biter against Northwestern.

Not only is a loss bad enough, but Nebraska was favored in some of those games. Entering Saturday’s game against the Boilermakers, the Cornhuskers were a 2.5-point favorite before losing by four.

That loss dropped Nebraska to the second-worst mark against the spread in the nation. Who is the only team below them? Akron, according to Darren Rovell:

Overall, Nebraska is 4-5, but winning two of the last three games to reach bowl eligibility will not be easy. The Cornhuskers must play Wisconsin, at Maryland, and Iowa to finish the season and will likely be underdogs in two of those games.
