Northwestern prides itself on its academics. That much is obvious.
The Wildcats actually ranked No. 1 on TIME’s list of ranked college football programs by academics.
That didn’t help Northwestern on Friday in the Outback Bowl against Tennessee. The Wildcats were destroyed 41-6.
Naturally, Tennessee players took to Twitter to engage in some postgame banter. Kahlil McKenzie took a shot at Northwestern’s academics…and made people wonder how he ever passed an English class.

For the record, Tennessee was ranked No. 17 on that list of top 25 teams by academics. That makes perfect sense now.
