Hats off to Joe Burrow. He transferred from Ohio State, but he wanted to play.
He knew he could play.
RELATED:
He wasn’t going to be denied playing at a high level. So, he went to LSU. Last year came and went and he showed promise.
This year, though, Burrow is the leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy. He’s been that good. And he was indeed that good against No. 3 Alabama on Saturday.
No. 2 LSU and Burrow weren’t supposed to win on the road. The Tigers were supposed to lose by a touchdown. However, Burrow went 31-of-39 for 393 yards, while throwing three touchdowns and zero interceptions. He was the star, no doubt about it.
After the game, he talked about being on that big of a stage:
LSU Quarterback Joe Burrow to CBS: "I thought I'd be on this stage. I didn't think I'd be in this jersey."

Well, fair enough. Burrow thought he’d be playing under tremendous pressure against a really good team at some point. That never really happened for him at Ohio State.
But, it did Saturday. And it did in an LSU uniform.
The situation clearly has worked out for both Burrow and the Buckeyes. Entering the week, Ohio State was ranked No. 1. LSU No. 2. It doesn’t get much better than that.
