LSU and Ohio State traded spots on the College Football Playoff Rankings Tuesday, but that flip was not reflective of how Ohio State played over the weekend.

Even without defensive end Chase Young, the Buckeyes came out in electric fashion against Maryland. They wasted no time jumping all over the Terrapins and rolled to a 73-point performance and blowout win.

The reason the CFP Committee bumped Ryan Day’s squad from the top spot was LSU’s win over Alabama. That put the Tigers at No. 1 and the Buckeyes at No. 2.

Based on overall resumes and the “eye test,” LSU and Ohio State have clearly looked like the top two teams in the country. On Wednesday, Paul Finebaum was asked who would win if the two met at the end of the season.

Though Finebaum is best known as an SEC guru, his answer may surprise you:

“I’m gonna surprise some people right now and say I think Ohio State might beat LSU,” said Finebaum. “It will be a neutral site game. If you look at LSU, as great as that win was the other day, they have a couple of narrow wins…Ohio State has just shredded teams, they’ve eviscerated teams.”

His breakdown came on First Take:

In order to get to that matchup, Ohio State must put away Rutgers before two tough games to end the year against Penn State and Michigan. Hopefully, the Buckeyes keep this undefeated season rolling right into Indianapolis for the B1G Championship Game and potential Playoff birth.
