For now, Wildcats fans can breathe a little bit easier.

After entering Saturday’s game as a 40-point favorite over UMass, Northwestern was greeted by an eager and hard-fighting Minutemen squad. Fortunately, Joe Gaziano came up with a game-shifting play.

As UMass set up for a short field goal to make it 6-0, Gaziano busted through the line. He ripped into the backfield and was able to block the field goal attempt.

After that, Chris Bergin scooped up the ball and rolled 85 yards for the opening touchdown to make it 7-3, Wildcats. Since then, Northwestern as moved on to a 14-6 lead.
