Looking to slay the No. 9 Penn State Nittany Lions on the road, the Indiana Hoosiers were going to have to be on top of their game and not be afraid to go deep into the playbook.

Well, the Hoosiers tried to use some trickery in the third quarter. Let’s just say, the results were less than favorable for Tom Allen’s team.

Our own Connor O’Gara shared a clip of Indiana’s fake punt attempt on Twitter:

Ultimately falling 34-27, the Hoosiers took a 14-10 lead in the first quarter when redshirt junior quarterback Peyton Ramsey punched it in from one-yard out. Continuing his strong play since taking over for injured redshirt freshman Michael Penix Jr., Ramsey completed 31-41 passes for 371 yards and a score to junior Ty Fryfogle.

A career-day, Fryfogle caught five passes for 131 yards – the first 100-yard receiving game of his time in Bloomington. Limited to just two receptions, junior Whop Philyor was one of four Hoosiers with at least 50 yards through the air.

Struggling to get much traction on the ground, sophomore Stevie Scott III led Indiana with 54 yards on 17 rushes (3.1 AVG).

Accumulating three touchdowns, redshirt sophomore quarterback Sean Clifford led the charge for Penn State with 234 total yards.

Their first loss since September 28, the Hoosiers (7-3) will host No. 15 Michigan (8-2) on Saturday at 3:30PM ET. Penn State (9-1) will travel to Columbus to battle the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes (9-0).
