Each week, ESPN’s FPI updates. It measures exactly how strong a team is based on a number of different metrics. It’s all computer-based.
At times throughout the college football season, the rankings didn’t make much sense. Michigan State was on an extended losing streak at one point and still found itself inside the top 25.
Odd, but, that’s how the computers work things sometimes.
Week 14 is now in the books and the conference championship games are all that stands in the way of bowl games taking place. Last week, according to the FPI, Ohio State held the top spot, while Penn State was at No. 6 and Michigan was at No. 7.

Ohio State remains the top dog. Will the College Football Playoff committee agree? We’ll find out Tuesday night.
