The 2019 season didn’t go quite the way Purdue had hoped. A laundry list of injuries, a slew of freshman on the two-deep and playing three quarterbacks resulted in a 4-8 campaign in Jeff Brohm’s third year with the Boilermakers.

Saturday marked a disappointing end to the season, as the Boilers dropped a 44-41 contest to rival Indiana in double overtime. It was the first time since 2016 Purdue lost to its rival and the Old Oaken Bucket returned to Bloomington.

While this season, and Saturday’s outcome, wasn’t what the Boilermakers were expecting, standout freshmen David Bell (WR) and George Karlaftis (DE) aren’t losing much confidence. After the final game of the season, the two were already talking about getting revenge on the Hoosiers.

Below is the video of Bell and Karlaftis telling each other “We’ll get them back next year,” following the loss. The video was captured by Andrew Pogar of WLFI.

Bell and Karlaftis were two of the highest-rated recruits in Purdue’s 2019 class and made a huge impact for the Boilermakers this season. Bell caught 86 passes for 1,035 yards and seven touchdowns. Karlaftis finished the year with 54 tackles, 17 stops for loss and 7.5 sacks.

Purdue may not have had the season it had hoped for in 2019, but there’s still plenty of confidence in West Lafayette.
