Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins put up an extraordinary season this year, but he missed out on an individual award this week.
For the season, Dobbins rushed for 1,657 yards and 19 TDs while averaging 6.6 yards per carry for the Buckeyes. He finished second in the conference for rushing yards and rushing touchdowns behind Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor. Dobbins also finished behind Taylor for the B1G Running Back of the Year Award.
During Friday’s press conference for the B1G Championship Game, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day admitted that it does bother him that Dobbins has not necessarily received the recognition he deserves. If Day were in Dobbins’ shoes, he would simply ask what more could he accomplish in order to earn the award.
Jeff Potrykus with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel shared Day’s comments:
OSU's Ryan Day notes it bothers him that JK Dobbins was not named B1G running back of the year. That went to #Badgers J. Taylor. Day said if he was Dobbins he would ask: What else do I need to do?

Both backs will get an opportunity to make a statement in Saturday’s title game. In their first meeting this season, Dobbins outgained Taylor with 163 yards and two touchdowns to Taylor’s 52 yards and no scores. Who gets the upper hand Saturday?
