ESPN’s David Pollack praises elite speed, physical tools of Ohio State’s Chase Young

Returning from a two-game suspension against the No. 10 Penn State Nittany Lions on November 23, Chase Young and the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes wrapped up a 12-0 regular season with a 56-27 victory over the archrival No. 14 Michigan Wolverines on November 30 in Ann Arbor.
Advancing to the B1G Championship Game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for the third straight season, Young did a feature interview with ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski ahead of Ohio State’s rematch with the No. 8 Wisconsin Badgers.
Airing on ESPN’s College GameDay, analyst David Pollack gave Young rave reviews following the piece.
“He’s the best guy I’ve seen coming off the edge since I’ve been covering this sport,” Pollack, who joined the network in 2009, said.
“What Gene said is important; a lot of people have great first steps, but he’s fast all the time … He wears No. 2. He’s like a wide receiver, but he’s 6-foot-5, 250 (pounds) … good luck.”
Appearing in 10 games thus far this season, Young has racked up 38 tackles (19.5 TFL) and a school-record 16.5 sacks. With the injury to Alabama junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Young has the opportunity to skyrocket even further up draft boards and possibly earn an invite to the Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York.
One of the SEC’s best linebackers of the 21st century, Pollack was a three-time All-American (2002-04) during his time playing for Mark Richt and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Ohio State and Wisconsin will kick at 8:00 PM ET on FOX with Gus Johnson, Joel Klatt and “The All-American Girl” Jenny Taft on the call.
