It’s official, Ricky Rahne is the new head coach at Old Dominion.

Rahne was introduced as the next head coach of the Monarchs on Wednesday morning at an introductory press conference. Rahne accepted the job after spending nine seasons under James Franklin at Vanderbilt and Penn State. He was in State College from 2014-19, serving as the offensive coordinator the last two seasons.

During his opening presser, Rahne thanked his former boss, talked about the future at Old Dominion and what it will take for the Monarchs to be successful. He also talked about potential staff hires and what kind of mindset and attitude he plans to bring to the program.

Below are some of the highlights from Rahne’s introductory presser:

This will mark Rahne’s first time as a head coach. He replaces Bobby Wilder, who stepped down after 11 seasons with the program.

Old Dominion restarted its football program in 2009 and made the switch from the FCS level to FBS in 2014, joining Conference USA. The Monarchs had their worst season of the new era last year, finishing 1-11.
