Nebraska’s Cam Mack makes program history in Huskers’ win over Purdue

Nebraska is just 11 games into the college basketball season, but guard Cam Mack has already made program history this year, and it came at a really good time.

On Sunday, Nebraska hosted Purdue for an early-season B1G showdown in Lincoln. The Huskers got their first conference victory of the Fred Hoiberg era, defeating the Boilermakers 70-56. That, alone, is a significant moment for the program.

But Mack’s big day helped Nebraska register the big win. He finished the day with a triple-double, becoming the first Husker basketball player to accomplish that feat in program history.

Mack ended the night with 12 assists, 11 points and 10 rebounds in the 14-point victory. He shot 4-of-7 from the floor and knocked down 3-of-4 attempts from 3-point range against Purdue. He played 35 minutes in the contest.

Mack’s triple-double performance comes just a few days after Nebraska traveled to Indiana in its B1G opener, pushing the Hoosiers to overtime before falling 96-90. He registered a double-double in that game, ending the night with 15 points and 10 assists.

So far this season, Mack has registered three double-doubles, with the other coming against Southern Utah. Mack had 13 points and 11 assists in that contest.

It may be early, but Mack is already proving to be one of the top guards in the B1G so far this year.
