Scott Frost continues to tear up the recruiting trail in the month of December. On Monday, the Huskers landed their fifth verbal pledge of the month, boosting the total to 19 commits in the 2020 class.

Three-star weak-side defensive end Jimari Butler announced on Monday that he will be committing to Nebraska. The 6-foot-5, 217-pound defensive lineman is a native of Mobile, Alabama.

Butler made his announcement via Twitter.

According to 247Sports, Butler ranks as the No. 32 player out of Alabama and is listed as the No. 35 weak-side defensive end in the 2020 class. He adds some depth to a position group that struggled in 2019.

Butler had a dozen FBS offers, but chose Nebraska over a handful of B1G and SEC schools. He also held offers from Tennessee, Ole Miss, Illinois and Maryland, among others.

With Butler’s verbal pledge, the Huskers jumped to No. 20 nationally in the recruiting rankings, and currently sit at No. 4 in the B1G.

Below are some of Butler’s high school highlights.
