Some people struggle to know what they want to be or do, but Jeff Hafley is not one of them.

Ohio State’s co-defensive coordinator is leaving the Buckeyes after the season and has accepted the head coaching position at Boston College. The 2019 season will be his only one with the Buckeyes, and he has done a great job in his lone season in Columbus.

Hafley is already a well-traveled coach with stops at Pittsburgh and Rutgers at the collegiate level and stints in the NFL at Tampa Bay, Cleveland, and San Francisco. Still, he knew he wanted to be a head coach someday.

While that’s not exactly shocking, Shaun Wade indicated Monday that Hafley shared his dreams with the group earlier in the year.

“Everybody has a dream, we talked about it in the room: what is your dream? He’s like our father figure, so he just talked to us about what he wanted, and we told him what we wanted,” said Wade.

Clay Hall with ABC 6 shared the video of Wade’s comments:

During the discussion, Wade admitted that Hafley’s departure will have at least some impact on his decision on whether to stay in school or leave for the NFL Draft. Wade would be eligible as a redshirt sophomore.

Dan Hope with 11 Warriors shared Wade’s comments:
