Minnesota safety Antoine Winfield Jr. has been named a finalist for the Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year award. He is one of five finalists for the award.
Along with Winfield, the other four finalists for the award are Oregon State quarterback Jake Luton, Kentucky linebacker Josh Paschal, Georgia Southern offensive lineman Drew Wilson and Notre Dame cornerback Shaun Crawford.
A winner will be announced on Thursday and will be determined by a vote of the Associated Press college football poll voters.
Winfield had his 2018 season cut short due to an injury, but responded in a big way in 2019. The safety registered a B1G-best seven interceptions to go along with 83 tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles this season. He registered a game-winning pick against Fresno State early in the season, and had two interceptions in the upset win over Penn State.
This season, Winfield was named the B1G Defensive Back of the Year and is also a first-team All-America selection.
