Players are willing to do just about anything to get an edge during the game. A lot of times, the goal is to get under an opposing player’s skin.

That’s what one FIU defensive back was trying to do on Saturday night during the Camellia Bowl matchup against Arkansas State.

Late in the third quarter, Arkansas State wide receiver Omar Bayless hauled in a pass with two FIU defenders around him. One of those defensive backs happened to be Olin Cushion III, who decided to swipe Bayless’ towel in an effort to irritate the receiver.

It worked.

Bayless then went after Cushion and the two fought over the towel. When Bayless eventually took it back, Cushion flopped to the field, hoping to draw a flag. That didn’t work.

It wouldn’t be bowl season if we didn’t see a few weird things on the field. This certainly fits into that category.

Arkansas State went on to defeat FIU 34-26 to finish the season 8-5.
