Bowl season is arguably the best time of year for college football fans. Almost every day for a two-week period, football is on the screen.
This past weekend served as the opening for the first major bowl weekend of the season. Eight games were played on Friday and Saturday, kicking off the college football postseason. And while we’ve been thrilled to consume all of that gridiron action, games haven’t been all that entertaining.
Of the eight games played so far, six have been decided by two possessions or more. Four contests have been decided by 20-plus points.
Here are the results through the first weekend of bowl games:
- Bahamas Bowl: Buffalo def. Charlotte 31-9
- Frisco Bowl: Kent State def. Utah State 51-41
- New Mexico Bowl: San Diego State def. Central Michigan 48-11
- Cure Bowl: Liberty def. Georgia Southern 23-16
- Boca Raton Bowl: FAU def. SMU 52-28
- Camellia Bowl: Arkansas State def. FIU 34-26
- Las Vegas Bowl: Washington def. No. 19 Boise State 38-7
- New Orleans Bowl: No. 20 Appalachian State def. UAB 31-17
Bowl games take a temporary break on Sunday, Dec. 22 but will resume with the Gasparilla Bowl on Monday, Dec. 23, a matchup between UCF and Marshall.
