Urban Meyer has already been linked as a candidate to two NFL head coaching jobs this offseason, as the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins may both have interest in the former Ohio State leader. But a third team could be in the mix.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Cleveland Browns could be interested in bringing Meyer to the sidelines this offseason, should they decide to part ways with current head coach Freddie Kitchens. It could be a good in-state move for both parties.

From La Canfora:

The Cleveland Browns could be poised to make big changes again pending the results of their final two games, league sources said, with ownership continuing to assess the performance of the staff. If the Haslams do opt to make a coaching change, they could provide Urban Meyer’s best chance of leaping to the NFL.

Jimmy Haslam has a very strong bond with Meyer, the sources said, and the two have long been confidants. Meyer has often shared inside information on his Ohio State players with the owner in the past — with the owner privileged to player reports and potential red flags that most if not all teams close to that program were not aware of. It was not uncommon at all for the men to be in conversation and act as a sounding board for one another, and Meyer has a unique cache in Ohio based on his successful stint with the Buckeyes.

Meyer has most notably been associated with a job with the Cowboys, should Jerry Jones decide to move on from current head coach Jason Garrett. Meyer told Colin Cowherd earlier this year that he would be interested in that position if it became available.

Despite the talk, both Dallas and Cleveland have current head coaches, so it may be a longshot for Meyer to make the leap to the NFL. However, his name continues to circulate as the end of the regular season draws near.
