Iowa isn’t playing in the College Football Playoff. But, most teams aren’t.
If you’re a good team — or average based on your overall record — you’re playing in a bowl game. Most teams have to travel to play in their bowl game, and at Iowa this postseason, it’s no different.

The Hawkeyes are facing USC at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Dec. 27 in the Holiday Bowl on FS1. The game takes place each year in San Diego, California. San Diego’s a great city.
But in order for the trip to be a good one, the Hawkeyes need to win, according to star defensive end A.J. Epenesa:
A.J. Epenesa on this week's Holiday Bowl: “The trip’s only good if you win. It’s a fun time. But the icing on the cake, just get that W.”

Again, this isn’t the CFP. It’s the Holiday Bowl against USC — a historic program. These teams still want to win. Especially for the players that are playing in their final game as a Hawkeye, they want to go out winners.
If Epenesa and Iowa can do that, the trip out west will be a good one.
