Four-star safety flips from Penn State to Stanford

There was hope that Penn State wouldn’t endure any more late surprises on National Signing Day.
Unfortunately that didn’t happen.
Four-star safety Andrew Pryts, who had been committed to the Lions since August, announced he flipped to Stanford. The Pennsylvania native, who’s dad, Ed, played at Penn State, was an all-state selection as a senior and was the 14th-rated safety in the 2016 class.
The Hickory product kept his interest with Stanford throughout the season, and he took an official visit in January. He also took an official to Penn State on Jan. 22, but that didn’t firm his commitment to James Franklin’s program.
Penn State lost defensive coordinator Bob Shoop to Tennessee, which has sparked a few decommitments on that side of the ball. The Lions also lost four-star defensive lineman Karamo Dioubate and New Jersey defensive tackle Michael Dwumfour flipped his commitment to Michigan.
The Lions are still expected to sign a top-20 class.
