For almost everyone on the Illinois roster, the trip to the Redbox Bowl is their first postseason experience. With the exception of some players the Illini landed from the transfer portal, everyone else is enjoying the first trip to a bowl game.
Running back Reggie Corbin still can’t quite wrap his head around it. This is something he’s always wanted to experience, and now he gets to live out his dream.
“I’m still trying to wrap my head around it,” Corbin told reporters. “The fact we had a practice today in California is unreal.”
As much as Corbin has wanted to play in bowl games throughout his career, the senior said he was also happy that he went through some of the struggles he endured throughout his time at Illinois, making him truly appreciate this opportunity.
Now, Corbin is focused on leaving his stamp on the Illinois program and leaving Illinois on a positive note.
“How do you want to be remembered? My dad’s been sending me that text every day,” Corbin said.
Corbin has rushed for 634 yards and six touchdowns in 11 games this season, and caught three passes for 28 yards. In his career, he rushed for 2,320 and 17 scores.
Illinois takes on Cal in the Redbox Bowl on Dec. 30.
