Josh Gattis had a bit of an up and down year during his first season in Ann Arbor, but it sounds like he is still very happy to be at Michigan.
On Sunday, Gattis met with the media for a Citrus Bowl press conference. During the appearance, Gattis was asked about his first season with the Wolverines after coming over from Alabama.

Though Jim Harbaugh’s team may have fallen a bit short of expectations, Gattis still said the year has been “awesome” for him personally. He said he has received support from the players and coaching staff throughout the year, and Gattis still feels honored to be at Michigan.
“This year’s been awesome,” said Gattis. “I’ve had a chance to work with some fabulous young men…the support I’ve gotta from our players, the support I’ve gotten from the coaches. It’s been amazing. It’s really living out my dream, I’m honored to be here at the University of Michigan and lead these young men, and continue moving the needle forward.”
Gattis has spent time around the country in various roles, but this year was his first as a full-fledged offensive coordinator. He spent 2018 as the co-OC and WRs coach at Alabama. Gattis previously served as WRs coach under James Franklin, both at Vanderbilt and at Penn State.
To finish the year, Gattis will lead Michigan against his old boss in Nick Saban and Alabama. Can he lead the Wolverines in a season-ending win over the Crimson Tide, or will Saban and Alabama’s defense get the best of his former assistant?
