Jeff Hafley is leaving Ohio State after one whirlwind season in Columbus.
Hafley was added as a part of Ryan Day’s first staff with the Buckeyes as the co-DC and secondary coach. His impact cannot be understated, helping to turnaround the defense into one of the best in the nation.
Unfortunately, the season came to end Saturday night with Ohio State’s loss to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl. The Buckeyes played well for much of the game and fell just short in the fourth quarter.

On Sunday, Hafley took time to send his thanks to Buckeye Nation for the year. He labeled his season in Columbus as the “greatest coach experience of my life” and expressed disappointment that he was unable to help lead the team to the National Championship.

Though the loss is disappointing, Hafley’s one year does appear to have the defense back trending in a positive direction for 2020. Now, Hafley will depart to Boston College for his first stint as a collegiate head coach. He will try to turn around a program that hasn’t reached double-digit wins since 2007.
