Indiana could be without two key offensive starters when it takes on Tennessee in the Gator Bowl on Thursday evening.
On Tuesday, Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star reported that running back Stevie Scott and offensive lineman Simon Stepaniak are questionable for the Hoosiers’ Gator Bowl game. Those would be significant losses for IU, as it hopes to get a ninth win for the first time since 1967.
Stepaniak started in 11 games for Indiana this season, making 10 appearances at right guard and one start at left guard. In his career, he’s made 31 starts along the offensive line for the Hoosiers.
Scott was the leading rusher at Indiana this fall, piling up 845 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had 26 receptions for 211 yards and a touchdown.
Indiana finished the regular season with an 8-4 record and is making its first postseason appearance since 2016. Indiana and Tennessee have played just once, with the Volunteers winning that matchup 27-22 in 1988.
