Ahead of the Rose Bowl, which is set to take place on Wednesday, Jan. 1, between Wisconsin and Oregon both head coaches were asked about the College Football Playoff.
Oregon’s Mario Cristobal is in favor of an eight-team playoff, saying that “anytime you could include more in that party, I think it’s a good thing.”

Wisconsin’s Paul Chryst didn’t necessarily give his thoughts on expansion. Rather, that he knows there’s a lot that goes into it:
“I think there’s a lot that goes into it, and we’re fortunate there’s a ton of people that care about it,” Chyst said. “And so I’m going to let them figure it out. And like Mario said, this experience that our players get to be a part of, I think if you asked every one of the players, this is very unique, and I know both teams were grateful for it.
“But just tell us what the rules are, and we’ll work and try to do all we can to be the best team we can be. And if we earn the right for whatever it is, you’re grateful for that.”
Wisconsin made the Big Ten Championship this year, and if it had won, it would have been up to the Playoff Committee if they wanted to add the Badgers to the four-team field. Had the field been an eight-team one, Wisconsin, at No. 8 currently, could certainly be in.
