Now that the NFL regular season has come to a close, organizations with vacancies are beginning to narrow in on potential future head coaches. All season long, Urban Meyer has been considered a candidate for a handful of job.
According to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, the Cleveland Browns are showing serious interest in the former Ohio State head coach after firing Freddie Kitchens at the end of the year. The Browns finished 6-10, despite the preseason notion that they could be a playoff team.
I’m hearing that the #Browns have strong interest in former #OhioState head coach Urban Meyer, per sources.

Meyer has been tied to three potential NFL jobs now since his retirement from Ohio State. The Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys were also mentioned at one time as potential organizations the could have interest in the three-time national champion coach. The Redskins don’t seem to have much interest, and it’s unclear if the Cowboys would give Meyer a shot at the job.
Meyer has never coached at the NFL level, but has had tremendous success at the college ranks. In 17 seasons, he’s posted a career record of 187-32, won seven total conference championships (B1G, SEC, Mountain West) and three national titles.
Following the 2018 B1G Championship Game, Meyer announced his retirement. This year, the former head coach has served as a college football analyst for FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff and has been a frequent guest on Big Ten Network.
