The Rose Bowl was a phenomenal one if you’re a Pac-12 fan. The Oregon Ducks barely got by the Wisconsin Badgers 28-27 in part thanks to four Wisconsin turnovers.
The game was a close one throughout, which always helps for a good television rating. That said, if the product on the field isn’t great, it doesn’t matter how close a game is.

After the Rose Bowl concluded, the rating numbers were released and the game drew an audience of more than 16.3 million viewers, peaking at nearly 20 million in the fourth quarter. When compared to last year’s Rose Bowl, the game’s rating technically dipped from a season ago, but it was still the second most-watched non-semifinal New Year’s Six game in the College Football era — which consists of 24 games.
This year’s version of the Rose Bowl was within four percent of last season’s Ohio State-Washington ratings number.
